As early as 1947, people active in the arts from a variety of professions came together to found the Haldensleben Artists’ Guild. For more than 70 years now, meetings have been taking place with an ever-changing group of participants, with the aim of working together and sharing their experiences with a wide variety of techniques. The driving force behind this has always been the desire to develop further through constructive criticism of their artistic work. Following German reunification, the Artists’ Guild found a home within the KulturHeimat e.V. association and a venue for its meetings at the Kulturfabrik.
A particular highlight is the ‘Annual Exhibition’ at the Kulturfabrik, which was initially held annually but now takes place every two to three years. The works to be displayed are selected collectively and exhibited in the Kulturfabrik’s galleries over a period of several weeks. Individual members of the guild also showcase their work in solo or group exhibitions, both regionally and beyond.
At present, the guild members meet every three weeks at the Kulturfabrik to discuss their current work. From time to time, they also work together. For example, there has already been a workshop on the theme of ‘glazes’, and members have drawn still lifes together. During these sessions, everyone works on their own first, followed by a discussion of the resulting works.
The Artists’ Guild is always delighted to welcome new people who are interested in joining, who are artistically active themselves and who would like to get involved in a community.
